The National Center for Health Promotion under the Ministry of Health was founded in 1997. From 1985 to 1997, the Centre was named "Center for Sanitation and Hygiene, Health Education and Primary Health Care”. The National Center for Health Promotion performs its function as an executive body unit of the Ministry of Health in behavior change communication of the public and encourages provider behavior change, tobacco and alcohol control, implementation of clients’ and providers’ rights and strengthening the system of community engagement by developing national policies, guidelines, laws and legislations as well as capacity building. NCHP is responsible for providing technical support and coordination with health departments through the Health Promotion Unit nationwide.

The meaning of our logo: 

• The woman, man, boy and girl represents a healthy family. 
• The umbrella symbolizes the 3 health principles:  health education, health promotion or disease prevention.
• The green color scheme signifies a heathy environment.
• The logo contains the name of the center, written in Khmer as "មជ្ឈមណ្ឌលជាតិលើកកំពស់សុខភាព" with the acronym "មជលស". In English it is read as "National Centre for Health Promotion" with the acronym "NCHP".
